Questions & Answer
How many theory tests do i need to obtain ?
2 driving theory tests, Basic and Final theory tests are required before one is allowed to take the traffic police practical driving test. Goto Top
When can i start my practical lessons ?
Once you have passed your basic theory test and applied for your Provision Driving License (PDL). You can proceed with your practical lessons. Goto Top
Is there any Enrolment Pre-requisite ?
Applicants must be 18 years old and above (based on date of birth),
Physically and mentally fit.
Must not accumulate more than 12 demerit points under the Driver
Improvement Points System (DIPS).
Must not have any class (es) of Qualified Driving Licence / Provisional
Driving Licence under revocation, disqualification or suspension. Goto Top
What are the enrolement documents i must provide ?
Enrolment Documents
• Identity Card or Passport.
• One recent passport size photograph.
• A valid employment pass, work permit, student pass, dependant's
pass and PR (foreigner only). Goto

What are the documents required when I am taking my Theory or Practical Test ?
The documents required are original Identity Card or Passport, Valid Provisional Driving Licence, Valid Final Theory Certificate (For Class 3 Licence Course) and Qualified Driving Licence (if any). Goto Top
How long do I have to wait for my basic or final theory test results ?
You will receive your test result by post in about 2-3 weeks’ time after the test. If you did not received the result after 2 weeks, please proceed down in person to the any test centres Traffic Police Testing Branch to check your result. Goto Top
How do I go about applying a Class 3 Provisional Driving Licence ?Please apply personally at any Traffic Police Testing Branch (BBDC, AMK, Kg Ubi, Jurong) together with your Basic Theory Certificate, NRIC, and a fees of S$ 25.00 during :
Monday - Friday : 0830 - 1700
Saturday : 0830 - 1230
Applicants are required to pass an eyesight and colour blindness test. All payments has to be made by NETS or CashCard only. Goto Top
Can I authorise someone to apply my Provisional Driving Licence on my behalf ?
Applicants need to apply his/her Provisional Driving Licence personally together with his/her NRIC and the Basic Theory Test certificate. An eyesight and colour blindness test will also be conducted. Goto Top
Can I renew my Class 3 Provisional Driving Licence that will be expiring soon ?
Renewal of Class 3 Provisional Driving Licence can be done at any Singapore Post. Goto Top
How Can I duplicate my lost Provisional Driving Licence ?
To duplicate a lost Provisional Driving Licence, you will need to report to the Traffic Police Department at :

Can I continue my practical lesson if I do not possess or bring a valid Provisional Driving Licence ?
Without a provisional driving licence(PDL), students may only proceed with your practical lesson in the driving circuit. Goto Top
Can a Qualified Driver teach a Provisional Driving Licence (PDL) holder?
With effect from 1st March 1999, only Qualified Licence holder who possess a Private Instructor Licence or Qualified Driving Instructors under a driving school are allowed to coach student drivers with a valid Provisional Driving Licence (PDL). Goto Top
I Am holding a probationary Qualified Driving Licence. How many demerit points am I allowed to accumulate before I am liable for the licence revocation?
Under 12 months of probationary period, drivers must not have any accumulation of more than 12 demerit points under the Driver Improvement Points System. Goto Top
I Am turning 18 in a few months time. Can I enroll for a course now before my birthday ?
Currently, the minimum age to enroll for a course or to book for a theory test date is 18 years old (based on Date Of Birth). Goto Top
My Driving Licence had been revoked and I am currently under a suspension period. Can I enroll now ?
When you are under the revocation, suspension or disqualification period for both the Provisional Driving Licence (PDL) or the Qualified Driving Licence (QDL) of one or any licence classes, you are not allowed to enroll for any course or book for any theory or practical test. Goto Top
Currently I have constituted 13 demerit points under the Driver Improvement Points System (DIPS) for Class 2B Singapore Qualified Driving Licence. Can I enroll for my Class 3 driving course now ?
Before or after any course enrolment, you must not accumulate more than 12 demerit points under the Driver Improvement Points System (DIPS) for both the Provisional Driving Licence (PDL) or the Qualified Driving Licence (QDL) of one or any course classes. Goto Top
I am a foreigner. Can I enroll for a driving course with a social visit pass ?
For foreigners, you will need to produce a valid passport with one of the following documents in order to enroll for a driving course:
* Valid Work Permit
* Valid Student Pass
* Valid Employment Pass
* Valid Dependant Pass

Can I have a mixture of Peak and Off-Peak sessions in my scheduling of practical training ?
Yes, you can have a mixture of both Peak and Off-Peak sessions in your scheduling of practical training. Goto Top
